Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his initial title for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.
The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult year, winning just one match at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
His varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually separating with former coach Cervara.
Presently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought three-set victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This marks the player's initial trophy after the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt since spring of the previous year.
Success also indicates Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at 21 distinct tournaments.
"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is really nice," commented tennis professional the champion.
"This title is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six title deciders, including in Halle in the past months.
Medvedev's retrieving strategy and regular emotional displays on court had caused some to wonder if his capacity to perform at the elite level was finished.
However the player has made changes in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and play aggressively, supported by an improved serve.
He came back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the concluding five games to take the lead.
The pair exchanged break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his first ATP Tour victory, took control to force a third set.
He rescued 4 initial chances in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.
Fittingly, he clinched the win with a point at the net area, with his opponent incapable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
